October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Breast cancer affects  millions of women each year.  They may be our wives, mothers,  sisters, grandmothers, aunts or our friends. Like all best friends, the Best Friends Fairy is very special. This particular Fairy was requested by and also inspired by a very avid collector of my Fairies & Elves. One of her very best friends is a young man with a form of brain cancer, whom she befriended at a rock concert many years ago. I used this very magical photo of the both of them for my 2010 Spring Fairy catalog, which you can easily see and understand the magic I am talking about.

The Birdlover Elf has been one of our most popular Elves this Spring. OK…2 out of 3 is pretty good!  I love this time of year because I get to start working in my gardens again…I think it’s called “puttering” or something like that.  The April Showers Fairy must be out in abundance this year, because it seems like it’s been raining all across the country!  That means with a little work, our gardens will be beautiful this year.

And Easter is such a wonderful season to celebrate our risen savior, Jesus Christ.  I love watching the old bible stories on TV.  Franco Zeffirelli’s 6.5 hour miniseries “Jesus of Nazareth” is my favorite.  You can usually catch it on the History Channel or Discovery Channel.  I did some beautiful new Easter Bunny Fairies & Elves for this years celebrations.

Do you need some luck or know someone who needs a little luck?  I have been very busy the past few months at the big January/February tradeshows in Atlanta, Dallas & Las Vegas and it seems that ‘ole Irish good luck just might be a blessing we all can count on as virtually every company had terrific shows!

Yours truly introduced a bumper crop of new Fairies, Elves & Witches for Spring, Summer, Fall and of course the Christmas Season!  It was refreshing to see so many happy retailers from all across the country eager to get my new designs.

Now, I gotta tell you…I hadn’t yet gotten my new Pot of Gold Elf or new Four Leaf Clover Fairy yet, so that surely must be the reason I kept losing at poker while I was in Las Vegas.  (It had absolutely nothing to do with the fact that I am not necessarily a good poker player!)  Fortunately, I am clever enough to play the very low stakes games, so my losses were not substantial.

I can’t think of anything more suitable to welcome in the first Valentine’s Day of the decade than our new 2010 Be My Valentine Fairy.  He is dressed in lush red fabric and has a gold cupid hanging from his belt.  Anyone would know how treasured they are to receive this beautiful Fairy on Valentine’s Day!

With an amber jeweled cross in his right hand, the Fairy of Faith reminds us of the true & only reason for our Christmas Season…the joyous celebration of our faith through the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

We are often reminded to count our blessings and in this magical season of joy, from all of my staff, we would like to thank you for your support and wish you a Very Merry Christmas.

The Joy of Giving Fairy shown here is an outward expression of my own feelings about giving.  It is said that it is better to give than receive and so often that is true.

Once a year, we open my warehouse doors for a sale event, selling off slightly (and sometimes very) irregular or damaged items from my Home Collection & Christmas decor lines.  We even include a few Fairies, but these are actually a very small part of the sale event.  We sell odd lots & last of a kind items…all at a very deep discount and only for one day a year.  My staff even donates their time…yes, they arrive at 5:30am and work for free all day long.  Why you may ask?

Because we donate nearly 100% of the sales to various local charities.  If you click on the photo to the right, you can see some pictures of the presentations we made to some terrific organizations in our local community.  My staff & I had great joy in supporting & giving:

• $7,500 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Orange County/Inland Empire in Southern California.
• $7,500 to the Children’s Hospital of Orange County…also know as CHOC Hospital.  The gift is designated towards the oncology (cancer) department.
• $7,500 to Olive Crest Children’s Home in Santa Ana.
• $7.500 to Taller San Jose (St. Joseph’s Workshop) which works with young people who have gotten into trouble with the law or mixed up with gangs & drugs.  They train them for and place them in the job market.
• $6,000 in children’s toys for Toys for Tots, the great organization run by our United States Marines.

My National Signing Tour goes into the “final stretch” with events in Santa Ana, San Diego, Seattle, Thousand Oaks & Redlands through December 6th. I really am a lucky guy because I get to see so many great cities throughout our land and meet so many great American Patriots!  I find that there is one common thread throughout my tour…that the American people truly are a good people.  I got to tour the Rays of Hope facility in Midland, TX, which is a children’s grief center.  I learned of their innovative yet common sensible approach to helping children in grief (www.raysofhopemidland.org).  I got to spend some special time with 2 collectors in Kansas (one of whom is a patient at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital).  I met a terrific person in Houston who works with special needs kids and is passionate about it.

Meeting so many fans is always a treat for me, so I want to thank the many of you who have turned out or will be turning out on the “final stretch” of my National Signing Tour.  To the left are just a few of the favorites that people seem to be enthralled with this year.  The Stocking Fairy and the Sweet Tooth Elf have been hot commodities this year and somewhat difficult to get in certain towns.  They are both festively and appropriately attired for the season and are some of my very favorites.  Hope you like them too!
